JIŘÍ SLAVÍK ALONE (CZECH REPUBLIC)
A MAN WITH A SONG AND A DOUBLE BASS
SA SOLO PROJECT FOR SINGING, DOUBLE BASS AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS.
The composer and multi-instrumentalist spent almost half his life studying and playing abroad. After returning, he took it as they say with a grain of salt: he collaborated with jazzmen, with Dáša Andrtová, recorded the album Mateřština, founded the group The Survivors with Jiří Levíček and Jakub Tengler, joined the Török-Slavík-Křištan project and everyone certainly remembers Polkatime. And of course he taught; currently in Linz, Austria, at the Bruckner Academy. In short, he lived happily, but in a hurry, and not that he was suffering from a midlife crisis at the age of forty this year, he just said to himself that the right moment had come to make time for himself. He also missed the double bass, which was often relegated to the background for artistic reasons, and he also longed for simplicity. So he decided to change his approach to music, while remaining the same. Only this time he will be alone and new as the Lord of Songs with a double bass and maybe other instruments. With the aim of giving up the previous musical sophistication and complex arrangements. And in a way that students, even less skilled musicians, can take something away from the result. What songs he will sing he already has in his head, what he will actually sing, we will find out only at the Folk Holidays. In any case, he will stick to the motto that there is strength in simplicity.
