GOMERA STREET BAND (AUSTRIA, …)
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN FROM THE BEACH PLAY SWING AND LED ZEPPELIN.
AN INTERNATIONAL BAND OF ENTHUSIASM FOR MUSIC-MAKING.
They may not be twenty years old, but otherwise the number fits: the band is made up of twenty musicians and singers, and they have been playing together for just as long. Just for their own pleasure, because they simply enjoy it. And even more so to transmit their joy from playing music together to the listeners. Wherever they stop: in squares, in parks, pubs or, and that makes sense, on beaches. The core of the international band met during a holiday in 2003 on the Canary island of La Gomera. They jammed until the morning, the next few days again, and when they said goodbye, they promised to meet again, and because promises are meant to be kept, they have lasted until today, and it doesn't matter if they meet in the Canary Islands or somewhere in Europe, where they have since become a grateful attraction at informal open-air concerts. They sing in many languages, you can never count their instruments, and their repertoire includes hits from all genres from the last six decades, plus well-known Roma and swing songs. They charm the crowds with grateful arrangements, and their performances have the character of an immediate party that anyone who happens to be passing by can join in. In the Square, for example, on the square or in the park. And it probably goes without saying that if you join them, they will be happy. This is actually the reason for the Gomera Street Band's European fame.
