TRIPTIC (SCOTLAND)
SIMPLY MENTION THE NAMES: GREG LAWSON, PHIL ALEXANDER AND MARIO CARIBÉ.
A NEW TRIO AND A NEW TRANSCENDENCE OF MUSICAL ORDINANCE.
We won't tell you how to approach such an intimate experience, you'll undoubtedly figure that out for yourself once the concert begins, but be prepared to ask yourself what drives the trio to bombard our minds with such an intoxicating flirtation of Eastern European klezmer with tango, jazz, Armenian melodies, Latin and British folk. But what else can you expect from the remains of the famous band Moishe's Bagel. We also know that violinist Greg Lawson, pianist Phil Alexander and double bassist Mario Caribé have never stopped looking beyond the horizon of the ordinary, so it was not easy to describe the music they play, but you were sure that they could literally intoxicatingly transfer the joy they themselves have from it to the listeners, while keeping them in suspense with whatever the trio comes up with during spontaneous improvisations. According to Phil Alexander, there is also the possibility that they will go crazy and the slow composition will bring out an unexpected rhythmic mischief for them.
At Folk Holidays festival, the favorites Moishe's Bagel are not the only reference of the new trio, and the title suggests that its members, with a reputation for sought-after virtuoso musicians, arrangers and composers, have invested their extraordinary careers in the debut album The Jackdaw Sessions, as in an artistic triptych, when listing who they collaborated with and what they achieved is beyond the possibilities of the festival catalogue.
