NEWLY REVEALED FORGOTTEN ROMA SONGS FROM HORŇÁCKO

LIVELY SONGS OF HORŇÁCKO ROMA.

The joy of any performance by Iva Bittová at Folkovky is multiplied by the fact that she brings different music every time, and even if we know it, we get a completely new look at it, because she usually lets it pass through the filters of her unusual approaches and experiences and the need to look at it from a different angle. In short, Iva Bittová. This time it will be about forgotten Roma songs from Horňácko, taken from the collection of Roma musician Pavel Kubík. "These are songs that are no longer played and exist only in recordings. That's why Iva and I decided to make them heard again so that they would not be forgotten. First in the Czech Radio studio and then at joint concerts," explained the birth of the new project Kala Zingarica (Roma Destiny) by cimbalom player Petr Pavlinec from the band Musica Folklorica.
The musical family of Kubíks remains in the Horňácko region to this day, and its symbol is the primacy Jožka Kubík, whom everyone called Majstre in respect and who was the first Roma to have a statue erected in our country. No less famous was the primacy Josef Kubík, known as FIlík, whose grandsons Pavel and Petr Kubík have been leading the Kubíci cimbalom band since 2004 and not only continue the family's music-making, but also keep the Roma repertoire in mind. The star couple works with him in their own way, however, we are talking about Iva Bittová and let's not be fooled by the chamber combination of voice, violin and dulcimer. They put personal emotions into the songs and, as they say, go to the core in their rawness. Not to mention the fact that they have a children's choir from Horňácko around them, so together they literally breathe new life into forgotten Romani songs.
