JAN BĚŤÁK
JAN BĚŤÁK

FROM IMITATION OF FOOTPRINT TO THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS

HOW THE FINALLY BROKEN TRUTH MET A FOOL.

The unique singer-songwriter answered the question of what he does with his life with his second album, The Language of Flowers. Far more diverse than his debut and accompanied by the words: "The songs reflect my embarrassment from the current volatile and constantly accelerating world, and they prescribe a desire to return to a calmer and more attentive life." And there can be no doubt: Jan remains a unique melancholic poet with the conviction that "boats full of honey will sail from the sunny side" and who is sure that everything is changing, but at the same time admits that he can be mistaken. And some of the verses that people like to steal from him the most: "Finally, the beaten truth met a fool and finally they are playing together." And one more thing about him immediately strikes you: don't the multitude of collaborators - Broněk Šmid, Marie Puttnerová, Beata Bocek, Vladimír Javorský or Martin Novák - sound familiar? Yes, that's how Folkovky works too... And we'll see who of them might join Jan's band.
It's also nice to watch how the story of Jan's musical sequence of dreams, feelings, questions and reflections was inscribed with an angelic award for the best folk album of 2025. If we can notice such lyrical songwriting collections in a flood of noise, poses and pop overtures, it's not so vain with us.
