JIŘÍ PLOCEK AND HIS NOTES OF A WANDERING MANDOLINIST

JIŘÍ PLOCEK ON THE WAY TO HOPE

Musician, publisher, publicist, producer, radio editor, writer, glossator, collector of folk songs and catcher of moments that often go unnoticed. In Jiří's words: a wandering folk writer; or a wandering mandolinist, as the subtitle of the album on the way to hope says. It is not just any album: as he himself states, after the departure of Jitka Šuranská he moved away from playing music. He began to write about what he had to say about music, but during his talks with readers and his programmes he did not give up and picked up the mandolin again. "I thought it appropriate to spice up the spoken word with a musical interlude - a few notes on the mandolin. Just like that, lightly, whatever I can get out of my hands. I began to find my way back to my closest musical instrument and urgent motifs from my musical past and from the depths of my present soul began to emerge," Jiří explained the essence of the album, a kind of personal story in which he plays his favourite and essential compositions set to the sounds of the city and nature.

"For me, song is a phenomenon that belongs to our culture, it moves us, it stimulates us, it brings us different things. From pleasure to pushing us somewhere," says Jiří and he will play and talk about it in depth in his composed show.
