MICAH P. HINSON (USA)

DARK AMERICANA, GOTHIC FOLK AND ALTERNATIVE COUNTRY

NOIR SONGS ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY AIMED AT PEOPLE WHO ARE HAPPY TO KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE WORLD WHO IS MORE LIKELY TO BE BEDRIDDEN BY MISERY THAN THEY ARE

Frankly, you probably wouldn't want a guy like Micah P. Hinson, whose life is said to have gone absolutely nowhere, in your home, but just listen to any song and hear his old prophet voice and you'll catch yourself. He's made many albums, so you've got your work cut out for you, but it'll be a good time, even if you get a bit depressed at times, and sometimes you'll go and lock up the house just in case some Micah loser who'd "rather pull the trigger than live another day" or a preacher with a bargain apocalypse offer. No, Texan Micah P. Hinson's songs aren't the kind that are supposed to make you laugh, that's just the way it is, and because there are a lot of people in the world who don't mind the blood that rains from Micah's black sky, he's one of the most sought after and admired songwriters

He is a native of the Chickasaw Indian Nation and was brought up in a family governed by the rules of the Church of Christ, which he considered "one of the strictest and most bizarre of Christian sects," so he escaped the rigid evangelical morality as much as possible and took up the career of a musician. However, he found more success at home in Britain, where he released most of his albums.
But it wasn't that long ago that he wanted to quit music: he got into disputes with his publisher, had a bad car crash with consequences, got divorced and left his wife and two children in Texas. Paradoxically, the covid saved him: he had time to think, found a new wife, moved to Madrid and made a radical decision in his work: he will only write songs about things that are happening to him now, because it's impossible to step into the future if you're digging into the past. "I'm tired of singing about dead people and terrible things. I'm starting a new life," Micah P. Hinson said.
And that's what his latest album I Lie to You is about, recorded with Italian producer Alessandro "Asso" Stefano, otherwise a guitarist who has worked for PJ Harvey, Mike Patton and Vinicio Capossela, who will accompany him with drummer Paolo Mongardi on the festival.
