RYAN YOUNG (GREAT BRITAIN)

LEADER OF THE NEW WAVE OF TRADITIONAL SCOTTISH FIDDLERS

THE ONE WHO BELIEVES THAT PLAYING WITH YOUR HEART OPENED IS EVERYTHING THAT SHOULD MATTER

Focussing on traditional Scottish music, Ryan brings new life to very old, often forgotten tunes by playing them in his unique way. His fiddle playing is brimming with fresh melodic ideas, an uplifting rhythmic drive and a great depth of dynamics and precision. His sound is very distinctive and takes the listener on an emotional and adventurous journey in any performance. Thirty-two years old Ryan Young brings new and exciting ideas to traditional Scottish music, receiving international praise for his spell-binding interpretations on the fiddle. His debut album was recorded with four-time Grammy winner Jesse Lewis who has worked with Béla Fleck or Silk Road Ensemble.

A famous Irish fiddler Martin Hayes who often performs with Ryan admires the way he presents music that comes from Scottish roots and gives them new feelings. He has been on the Czech scene for more than forty years, but he has always stood apart from mainstream pop and media-influenced background. “I am a sixty-five years old man and I am a songwriter. “At his concerts, the audience loves his poetic, playful, love and self-ironic rhymes and people sing with him, because of his lyrical timeless texts.
Currently, he performs with his “right hand“– the guitarist Petr Fiala. His health condition stopped him a bit. “First we performed the way that Petr played and I was focused on the lyrics and singing. Later on, I found out that there was a mandola idling at home. I started to play and realized that the sound was so beautiful that I fell in love with it. I forgot all about
